Methods and settings
| Method / input | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Formula | Sum of linked average FTE × annual Revenue / FTE for each relationship. |
| Personnel ownership | The employee group owns staffing; the revenue line owns the relationship rate. |
| Several relationships | A group can support several lines with different productivity assumptions. |
Link an employee group
Open the revenue line’s Annual Model and choose FTE × Revenue / FTE. Use Link employee group to select an existing eligible group, or create a new group through the relationship control. Enter Revenue / FTE for this line for the selected forecast period. Repeat for additional contributing groups. Apply Forward can copy the setup into later forecasts.
A new link starts with its own rate; linking does not imply that the full output of a second revenue line should be copied. Actual revenue remains a recorded historical value.
Edit the source once
The displayed FTE is the linked group’s average FTE, not a second headcount assumption maintained in Revenue. Expanding the group from the revenue line opens the same source. An eligible manual staffing input edited there changes the owning group and other dependents in that scenario. A derived FTE count must instead be changed through its active staffing method.
The relationship rate belongs to this revenue line and group pairing. Another revenue line may use the same group with a different rate. Unlink removes this relationship, not the employee group or its personnel-expense schedule.
Work through a shared-team example
Synthetic annual plan: Delivery has 8 average FTE at 150,000 annual Revenue/FTE, producing 1,200,000. Specialists add 2 average FTE at 200,000, producing 400,000. Total line revenue is 1,600,000. A second line may use Delivery with a separate productivity assumption; review whether that represents additional real output or double-counted capacity.
In a shorter source period, annual productivity is scaled for period exposure. Personnel cost remains supplied once by the selected personnel-expense source. Linking both revenue lines to the same group does not charge payroll twice.
Cycles, source changes and analysis
Do not make a revenue line both drive and depend on the same staffing chain. A personnel group driven by that revenue cannot also supply it through Revenue/FTE when this closes a calculation loop. Use an independent reference or a different supported business relationship.
The complete relationship editor is Annual; finer source editors do not expose every Annual specialized control. Check source ownership before changing the grid. Supported relationship rates are available to analysis with the correct line, staff, period and scenario context. A missing or changed link can make a saved analysis input unavailable; repair the selection rather than treat the old rate as still active.
