Analyze: investigate the connected model

Choose the analysis that answers your question, from tracing a result to testing uncertainty or solving for a goal.

Methods and settings

Method / inputBehavior
InspectorRead the selected source, result, unit and context.
Key DriversDiscover and rank supported assumptions by their tested effect on one target.
Sensitivity / TornadoInspect one or two assumptions in detail, or compare selected one-at-a-time ranges.
StochasticSample configured input distributions and examine the resulting output distribution.
Reverse / Goal SeekSearch permitted input ranges for a target, constraints or an optimum.

Start with a meaningful target

Activate the relevant tools, check the model and use Advanced mode. Open Analyze and select a Layer. Select a result in its actual operator, period and scenario; a similarly named result in another period is a different question. Inspector also supports read-only inspection in View. Other analytical Layers require Advanced.

A useful sequence is Inspector → Key Drivers → Sensitivity or Tornado → Stochastic or Reverse. This is a workflow suggestion, not a mandatory sequence.

The same questions across domains

The shared analysis system connects eligible inputs and outputs in Model, Value, Deals, Ownership and Credit & Liquidity. For example, investigate operating assumptions behind EBITDA, valuation assumptions behind Equity Value, entry and exit assumptions behind sponsor returns, eligible transaction assumptions behind dilution, or plan inputs behind 13W cash. Each target has its own supported sources; eligibility is not a promise that every visible cell can be varied.

Analysis is conditional on your model

These tools recalculate the implemented relationships. They do not verify market assumptions, infer causal business relationships from historical data, or certify a financing commitment. Key Drivers and Tornado depend on tested ranges; Stochastic depends on chosen distributions; Reverse depends on bounds and constraints. A precise-looking result can still be based on an incomplete model. See input eligibility and current boundaries.

Public models do not store this analysis session

Inspector state, rankings, sensitivity grids, simulation results and solver candidates are not persisted in public model snapshots. Publication preserves operator inputs and deterministic operator outputs. After Fork, run this analysis again locally against the restored editable inputs. A reviewed change explicitly applied to an underlying operator input can be published as that input; the analysis session that produced it is still excluded.
