Use the explicit source action
Open the desired period view and the relevant Model line. A derived view provides a source action such as Model annually or the corresponding fine-period source action. Review the confirmation, including the current granularity and method and the new source. This is a change to the same model, not a new saved scenario or a second forecast alongside the old one.
Simply displaying another view or using Go to source does not replace the source. Cancel the confirmation if the intention was only to inspect a result. Source replacement is committed as one undoable change through the normal model workflow.
What is preserved at the handover
The new grid is initialized from the existing branch’s modeled values. Period-flow allocations and closing-stock paths are carried into that initialization so the source change does not casually replace the economics with zeros or a flat unrelated plan.
A former method is retained only where the new period setup can express the existing branch consistently. If several monthly percentage assumptions cannot be represented by one quarterly driver, the new quarter can be seeded as Amount with the conserved allocation. The visible numbers can therefore be preserved even though the original recurrence or dependency has been replaced. Read the new method before making the next edit.
Move a monthly line to a quarterly source
Suppose a synthetic revenue line contains monthly amounts of 100, 120 and 180 in one quarter. Switching the line to Quarterly initializes a quarter amount of 400 from those economics. It does not leave a separately active monthly revenue forecast plus another 400 on top.
If you then replace the quarter’s method or amount, you are deliberately defining the new source. The old monthly timing is no longer an independently editable parallel plan. Downstream receivables, collections, interest or required funding can respond to the new assumptions; source initialization is not a promise that every later edit preserves all outputs.
Review scenarios and analyses after replacement
A supported scenario-specific source change belongs to that scenario. Base source changes can invalidate an inherited override whose source period or method no longer matches. Such work can remain stored as unresolved; inspect it through scenario assumptions.
Analysis results based on the previous source may become stale or a saved variable may become unavailable. Re-select the current controlling assumption and rerun. Historical source replacement has different scope and preserves forecast ownership; use the historical reference for Actuals.
