Methods and settings
| Method / input | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Fiscal Year End | A month/day setting shared by the model and its scenarios. |
| Fiscal quarters | Three-month quarters beginning from the fiscal-year start. |
| ISO weeks | Monday–Sunday identity, including ISO week 53 where present. |
Read the year-end label
Set Fiscal Year End in setup or Periods. The year label identifies the year containing that year-end. With September 30, FY2027 runs from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027; Q1 is October–December. Quarter identity follows the fiscal year, while month identity keeps its calendar date.
This matters when selecting a valuation year, a forecast source period or a dated event. An event belongs to its actual date interval, not simply to the number printed in the year label.
Keep a week intact across boundaries
Weekly uses ISO Monday–Sunday weeks. A week crossing a month, fiscal quarter or fiscal-year boundary remains one visible column. The model uses dated overlaps to allocate its financial contribution to the relevant intervals. ISO years may have 52 or 53 weeks; a fiscal horizon can also contain partial opening or closing weeks.
Do not force every fiscal year to equal 52 complete weeks or count a boundary week twice. A week can also cross the Actual/Forecast boundary; its historical and forecast portions remain distinct and are included once.
Change the calendar deliberately
Fiscal Year End is shared across scenarios. The change remaps annual assumptions and relevant scenario addresses, while Monthly and Weekly inputs retain real-date identities. Saved fine-period records outside the new horizon can remain stored rather than being discarded simply because they are not visible. The operation is undoable.
After a change, review source-period labels, affected actuals, timed assets/debt and independent Value/Deals period selections. Changing what is visible in the statement does not define the DCF horizon or automatically select a new LBO exit year.
Use the supported calendar model
This is a real-date fiscal calendar, not a retail 4-4-5 calendar. Flows aggregate over date exposure, closing stocks use the appropriate boundary, and ratios are recomputed from their components. Short-period annualized rates and flows therefore should not be interpreted as identical to an unqualified monthly percentage.
The main horizon supports at most 30 annual periods and at least one forecast year. Use boundary controls to add or remove periods. A different fiscal setting does not create an additional scenario or a separate 13-week operational Plan.
