Other balances and cash-flow classification

Plan supported non-current balances, non-operating results and extra cash-flow items with an explicit economic classification.

Methods and settings

Method / inputBehavior
OperatingContributes to the operating cash-flow route.
Investing / FinancingClassifies the supported movement outside operating cash flow.
NoncashSeparates the accounting effect from an immediate cash movement.

Model the supported closing balance

Other Current Assets, Other Current Liabilities, Other Non-current Assets and Other Non-current Liabilities can use their supported Amount, Growth or reference-percentage methods. A balance input describes the stock; the cash-flow effect comes from its movement and classification.

For non-current positions, Cash-flow treatment can be Operating, Noncash, Investing or Financing. The default for Other Non-current Assets is Investing; the default for Other Non-current Liabilities is Financing. Enter the relevant opening allocation consistently with the opening position before relying on the movement.

Classify non-operating income and expense

A non-operating line distinguishes Income from Expense, then applies its selected cash treatment. A cash expense classified as investing is not simply another operating payment. The model adjusts the indirect bridge so the income-statement effect and cash-flow classification remain coherent within its supported mechanics.

Synthetic example: a modeled non-operating income of 100 classified as Investing is included in pre-tax income, but its investing cash contribution is shown in the corresponding cash-flow route rather than treated as ordinary customer collections. Tax follows the model’s current-tax policy.

Use manual flow lines without double counting

Supported extra cash-flow lines use Amount and a classification such as Other noncash, Other operating, Other investing or Other financing. They are explicit additional inputs, not labels attached to every derived statement subtotal.

If a closing balance already causes a cash movement, do not enter the same movement again in a manual flow line. Likewise, a scheduled intangible asset already contributes its carrying value to Other Non-current Assets. An ordinary NCA driver should not duplicate that independently scheduled asset. Trace the source in Inspector and compare the Balance Sheet and Cash Flow together.

Noncash treatment still needs a counterpart

Noncash classification does not authorize an unbalanced change. The model can report an unmatched noncash counterpart or an opening-allocation inconsistency. Review both sides of the intended accounting effect and the supplied source balances. It does not invent a missing journal entry or silently plug the difference into equity.

This is a financial-planning classification system, not a general ledger, consolidation engine, lease-accounting module or full acquisition-accounting framework. Use supported rows and methods for the intended relationship, and state any simplifying assumption when the economic transaction is more complex.
