Analyze ownership, dilution and incentives

Use Inspector and the common Analyze layers on meaningful ownership outputs without committing equity transactions.

Methods and settings

Method / inputBehavior
TargetsHolder Basic/FD ownership, transaction dilution and eligible pool outputs.
InputsEligible active holdings, pricing, investment, quantities, targets and award assumptions.

Inspect the right owner and step

Select a holder, security, transaction, pool or grant for Inspector. Cap Table details show denominators, Basic/FD ownership, equity source and allocation values. Transaction details show the selected step’s before/after shares, percentage-point effects and company cash. Applied transactions use saved historical effects, not current closing changes attributed retrospectively to that row. A removed pinned source requires a new selection.

Use actual current modeling questions

Examples include how a funding investment changes founder FD ownership, how a buyback price changes repurchased shares under cash-based sizing, or how target pool% changes closing dilution. Select a finite meaningful output, then eligible sources through the workspace or compact search. Sensitivity, Tornado and Stochastic use the same connected transaction calculation, so downstream dilution follows the input changes.

Respect source and method eligibility

Only active applicable inputs are meaningful: investment when investment sizing is active, target percentage in target mode, and price where it drives the chosen method. Applied transactions are locked. Managed ESOP holdings are derived rather than separately writable. Linked equity value must be analyzed through its source; a manual equity input is editable only in manual-source mode. Not every category/date/structured setting is a numeric simulation variable.

Solve an assumption without executing a round

Reverse / Goal Seek can seek an eligible holder ownership or dilution target using bounded inputs and output constraints. Preview is temporary; Apply Solution writes reviewed writable assumptions. For example, applying a solved investment updates the round’s derived closing shares but does not apply that round to the opening Cap Table. Some holding changes need companion writes to preserve reconciliation; review every listed change.

Keep analysis and application boundaries visible

Running deterministic or stochastic analysis does not invoke Apply closing. Applying the complete transaction sequence remains separate. Cap Table, Equity Transaction and ESOP assumptions are shared across scenarios even when a target’s equity value is scenario-dependent. Results can become stale when source data changes. Use the global Analyze workflow for layer selection, progress, cancellation and stale-result behavior; the domain does not supply probabilities, legal rights or corporate-action execution.

Analyze integrated listed inputs

Listed Shares & Capital Returns registers its inputs and outputs with the shared Analyze system. Eligible numeric capital assumptions can affect Model, Value and Credit outputs as well as shares. Its supported scenario-specific fields are distinct from the shared ownership transaction ledger discussed above. Temporary probes do not publish results or apply ownership closing transactions.
