Methods and settings
| Method / input | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Public / Other Shareholders | One aggregate holder can represent the remainder of external ownership. |
| Company / Treasury | Allocate treasury balances separately from external ownership. |
Reconcile disclosed totals
Create identified insiders or strategic holders and an aggregate Public/Other Shareholders holder for the remaining float. Create common/preferred classes as appropriate and enter reported issued shares plus treasury. Allocate external holdings to outstanding shares. If using an explicit Company/Treasury holder, its holdings should allocate the same treasury balance, not enlarge the share base.
Use an aggregate float example
A company has 1,000,000 issued shares and 100,000 treasury shares, leaving 900,000 outstanding. Insiders own 180,000 and Public/Other holds 720,000: Basic ownership is 20% and 80%. Optional authorized shares can check the total issued count. Set the share unit to k shares or m shares for convenient entry, independently of currency scale.
Model buybacks and aggregate awards
Use Buyback with selected public holders when the repurchase should not be pro rata across all owners. Keep repurchased shares as treasury or retire them explicitly. Employee groups can receive aggregate ESOP grants with one schedule per modeled grant. This avoids pretending that an aggregate group contains individually tracked employee histories.
Understand disclosure and accounting boundaries
There is no automatic ticker lookup, filings import, market-price feed, legal authorization by class or stock-split workflow. FD uses the selected included-unit convention, not treasury-stock-method diluted EPS. Optional intrinsic option values are not IFRS 2/ASC 718 grant-date fair values. The model can organize supplied disclosure assumptions; it does not verify them.
Separate holder allocation from stock valuation
This page describes aggregate holders in the generic Cap Table. For a forecast of valuation shares, TSM, simple if-converted treatment and integrated dividends/buybacks, use Listed Shares & Capital Returns. For source dates, public issuer/ticker metadata and publication, follow Stock analysis. Neither workflow automatically verifies the issuer or fetches filings/prices.
