Methods and settings
| Method / input | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Inventory purchases | Use inventory purchases as economic supplier-payment cohorts. |
| COGS excluding payroll | Use cost-of-goods sources after excluding separately identified payroll. |
| Model AP cash payments | Use the Model supplier-cash source as the mapped amount. |
Choose what the payment profile distributes
Linked model preserves the existing supplier/AP cash baseline. When applying a supplier Timing Profile, Source mapping determines the economic amounts being moved: purchases, COGS excluding payroll or Model AP cash payments. The same percentage offsets then apply to each weekly source cohort. Review opening inventory/AP when choosing the basis; moving purchases is not always equivalent to moving already-derived AP cash.
Separate linked Payroll once
Payroll uses active Personnel sources in detailed operating groups. Personnel included in COGS is excluded from supplier cohorts and shown separately, avoiding duplicate classification. Linked Payroll follows the Model’s headcount/compensation economics; a Timing Profile changes when those costs are paid. The other operating cash rows preserve the remaining reconciliation, so they should be inspected when the source structure changes.
Payroll without a Personnel model
Payroll can instead use Manual Weekly, Fixed / Recurring or Dated Payments without a Personnel source. Enter independent expected amounts, payment dates and comments in the plan. For example, a fixed monthly payroll can be entered as an amount per payment with monthly cadence and a pay day from 1 to 28. This does not create staff, salary expense or headcount in Model.
Review existing operating payments
If the Model already includes aggregate payroll inside SG&A or other operating payments, adding an independent Payroll line may duplicate that cash unless the overlapping operational line is adjusted. The absence of a Personnel source does not prove payroll is absent from aggregate costs. Compare the linked Model baseline and total disbursements before and after the change, and document the operational reclassification with comments.
Taxes, capex and debt service
Taxes and Capex start from linked payments but can use the independent/timing options actually offered for each row. Debt interest, contractual repayments and facility movements remain locked financing sources. Change loan terms in Financing, not by adding an offsetting payroll or supplier payment. All operational changes remain in the plan and do not automatically change the Model’s expense, tax or asset schedules.
