Methods and settings
| Method / input | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Absolute value | A draw replaces the underlying assumption. |
| Deviation | A draw is added to the current assumption, not multiplied by it. |
| Percentage points | For eligible percentage sources, enter additive percentage-point deviations. |
| Bounds | Optional absolute limits condition the distribution on admissible values. |
Configure, then activate
Open the source’s stochastic configuration, choose a distribution and enter its parameters in the displayed unit. Add a useful comment where offered, save, and activate the configured input for the intended target. A saved configuration does not necessarily mean the source is active in the current simulation. Changes to stochastic configuration are separate from financial Undo history.
Absolute versus additive uncertainty
With a current margin of 10%, a deviation of +2 percentage points means 12%, not 10.2%. With a current amount of 100 EURk, a deviation of +5 EURk means 105 EURk. An absolute draw of 5 EURk instead means 5 EURk. Changing display scale does not create a different currency convention for Analyze; use the shared unit rules.
Conditioning is not clipping
Bounds always describe absolute underlying input limits, including in deviation mode. The distribution is conditioned on the permitted interval; draws are not piled up at the nearest boundary. Review the displayed retained probability. Little retained mass means the bounded distribution differs substantially from your original assumption. No retained support is invalid. For Discrete inputs, excluded outcomes are removed and the remaining probability is rescaled.
Integer and unavailable sources
Integer inputs use Discrete or Empirical distributions with whole-number outcomes. Do not rely on a continuous draw being rounded into a valid legal count. If the owning method changes or a source is removed, review the saved configuration and choose a current eligible source. Sampling does not override active-source ownership, a transaction lock or an invalid period.
