Empirical observations and resampling

Resample an explicit observation list while retaining duplicate frequencies.

Methods and settings

Method / inputBehavior
1–2,000 observationsEnter numeric observations; each occurrence participates in sampling.
Sampling with replacementAn observation can be drawn repeatedly across runs.

Frequency comes from the list

Enter one numeric observation per line. Every entered observation has equal selection weight. Duplicates are retained, so repeated values receive proportionately more total probability. The order does not create a time-series path. Use observations in the selected Absolute or Deviation mode and require whole numbers for integer inputs.

Synthetic observation list

The list 80, 100, 100, 120 EURk gives 100 EURk a 50% probability and each other value 25%. Removing the duplicate 100 would change the distribution. This is resampling supplied observations, not fitting a continuous probability law or generating unseen tail outcomes beyond them.

History needs modeling judgment

The observation editor is not a file-based forecasting, automatic cleaning or seasonality-fitting workflow. Consider whether the list represents the future period and whether inflation, structural changes or different units make old values inappropriate. Bounds condition the available observations; an empty permitted set is invalid. More simulation runs cannot repair a biased or unrepresentative list.
