Methods and settings
| Method / input | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Follow selection | The Inspector follows the current supported workspace selection. |
| Pin inspector | Retain the inspected item and its context while selection moves elsewhere. |
Read identity before value
Check the operator, scenario, period, line and unit shown with the value. Inspect source and calculation information where that item provides it. A total, a writable assumption and a linked result have different meanings even if they currently show the same amount. The Inspector presents the information supported by the selected domain; it does not manufacture an editable source for every result.
Pin a context, not a snapshot
Select the item and choose Pin inspector in Options. Continue editing or selecting in the workspace: the pinned item remains visible and its value updates with the model. The underlying selection can continue moving. Return to Follow selection to inspect that current selection.
For example, pin a supported cash result while reviewing a borrowing assumption. The Inspector can show the recalculated cash result without making cash itself a direct input. Pinning is not an archived valuation or a lock on financial data.
Use the appropriate view
Statement selections can offer chart transformations, comparisons and supported Business Line breakdowns. Income Statement and Cash Flow also provide Statement Flow; Balance Sheet does not. These views explain reported model relationships. Use Key Drivers, Sensitivity or Tornado when the question is how changing assumptions affects a target.
Public models do not store this analysis session
Inspector pins, follow mode, selections and expanded views are not persisted in public model snapshots. Publication preserves operator inputs and deterministic operator outputs. After Fork, run this analysis again locally against the restored editable inputs. A reviewed change explicitly applied to an underlying operator input can be published as that input; the analysis session that produced it is still excluded.
