Methods and settings
| Method / input | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Targets | Use meaningful available valuation, schedule and sponsor-return outputs. |
| Variables | Choose eligible assumptions that can affect the target in its current context. |
Understand the selected value
Inspector follows the selected method input, result or schedule context, or holds a pinned reference. Begin with the operating basis, year, scenario and unit. A displayed derived result is not automatically an editable assumption. Use source navigation to reach the underlying Model or method input. Analyze explains the differences between the available layers.
Ask supported valuation questions
For DCF equity value, investigate WACC, terminal growth or eligible operating sources. For LBO IRR, investigate entry/exit multiples, leverage and other active assumptions. Key Drivers ranks measured influence; Sensitivity varies one or two inputs; Tornado compares separate low/base/high changes. An operating EBITDA adjustment can be an analysis-only amount in supported downstream routes; it is not automatically a change to a business-line forecast.
Simulate sources, not invented market evidence
Stochastic samples configured eligible inputs and recalculates the connected valuation. It does not supply probabilities, market-data forecasts or peer correlation assumptions. A linked WACC component remains owned by its active Model source; choose that source or explicitly change the sourcing mode before treating the component as a standalone assumption. Native DCF grid settings are separate from generic Analyze inputs.
Solve backward with explicit limits
Reverse / Goal Seek can seek an LBO return target or optimize an eligible valuation output using selected variables and constraints. Preview shows a temporary result. Apply updates writable assumptions only after review; analysis-only adjustments cannot be applied as invented operating inputs. LBO debt remains its own downstream sponsor schedule, distinct from Credit Financing. Solving does not merge those ledgers.
Documents the current implemented behavior. Numerical examples are synthetic, not market assumptions.
